How To Backup Your Blackberry Data

By

After a while, you will soon be collecting a lot of data on your BlackBerry smartphone, and when this happens, the last thing you want is to lose your data if something happened to your BlackBerry. One way to achieve this is by learning how to backup your BlackBerry data onto your computer. In fact, you will find that the process is quite easy. Once you learn how to backup your BlackBerry data, you will find out that there are two types of backups that can be achieved. The first is a full backup, and the second is known as a selective backup, which means that you get to choose one or more databases that you would like to make a backup copy of.

To perform a complete backup of all the data that your BlackBerry smartphone possesses, it is important that you first have the BlackBerry software installed on your computer. Once this is done, you can then go ahead and connect your BlackBerry device to your computer so that you can begin the process of backing up your data. Once your device is connected, open your BlackBerry application and click the Backup and Restore option. When you have done that, you will then have the option to select Backup, which in turn will prompt you to find a location on your computer where you would like to save all of your data. After you have specified your location, you would simply need to click on Save. If you are performing a backup on a Windows operating system, your backup will be stored within an IPD file or a BBB file if using an Apple Mac. Now that you have learned how to backup your BlackBerry data completely, we can have a look at how to do a selective backup.

Once again, make sure that your BlackBerry software is installed on your computer before you connect your BlackBerry device. Once everything is connected, open your BlackBerry application and click on Backup and Restore. At this point, you have the option to click on Advanced, so go ahead and do that. When you land in the Advanced section of this application, you can then click on the Device Databases option in order to select all of the databases you wish to backup. In order to add your databases for backup, you would simply need to click the Arrow which points to the left side of your screen. Once you are sure that you have selected all the correct databases, you can then click File and then Save, which is situated at the top corner on the left side of your application window. At this point, you will have the ability to create an appropriate name for your backup file, so once you have done that, you would simply need to click Save. Now that you have learnt how to create a BlackBerry backup file, you can feel safe knowing that none of the data will ever be lost in case something happens to your device. From this point onwards, you should make regular backups to ensure that you always have the latest information saved.
